Royal Docks- Millenium Mills
Vision
“To enrich existing communities and create an innovative, sustainable and inclusive hub, bringing people closer to the docks and its heritage”
Site Overview
Once London's primary dock, the Royals continue to connect the city and the borough of Newham with the rest of the World. The docks were abandoned in 1981, and have since been the site of multiple regeneration projects. Currently overgrown and in disrepair some historic buildings remain as does the water.

In our vision for millenium mills, we want to enhance the existing features of the site making the whole 62 acre site of Millenium mills a place to visit and stay, for new people and existing communities.
What we aim to bring to the Royal Docks
Key to the unique feel of the docks is the water and the historic buildings, Millenium Mills and Silo D, which must be preserved. The story of the communities and the people that have and continue to live and work here are also important which is why we think it is important to bring people closer to this historic place.

We see Millenium Mills as an opotunity to provide for existing communties and their needs while innovating and creating a new place. The location of the Docks in both proximity to water, City airport and the City of London provides a unique opportunity for London in terms of growth.

Sustainability is essential in any new development especially in such a sensitive area of history, and previous redevelopments, to address this we will be apllying a sensitive approach to our design. This includes creating new spaces for existing community groups in the Mills buildings as well as social and start-up spaces for greater social cohesion.
