Regeneration Strategies
Linking Physical And Social Regeneration Benefits
Strategy 1
Ensuring Jobs go to Local People
Strategy 2
Creating new and Enhancing old Identities
Renovate Millenium Mills and Silo D
Rennovating the iconic buildings of Silo D (as a Climbing Centre) and Millenium Mills (as a new community hub, Shopping location, start up space and residential) as well as the shape of the Docks will retain what makes the Royal Docks unique preserving its histroy and making it a place to visit.
Floating Village
Festival Space
Creating a new floating village will bring people closer to the water than before as will the walkways. The open feel of the site will be retained and a unique identity for the site will be created.

This was inspired by the floating communities in Ijburg in Amsterdam that make use of docks water there.
The open space created adjacent to the Millenium Mills building that is framed by the water provides a space not only for local employment and community uses such as a market but also scope for a continuation of the Royal Docks Delivery Team meanwhile festival uses such as the Royal Docks Jazz Festival.
Strategy 3
Providing Space
Creating an attractive and usable public realm that improves access to green space as well as space for a Market will give the community more space for events and simply meeting which is currently lacking on site.

Additionally, public space will be provided in the bottom two storeys of Millenium mills giving scope for expansion of existing groups linking new and old communitites.

Workspace here creates local job opportunites further engaging the community.
Strategy 4
Physically Linking the Site to Existing Communities
As identified in the SWOT the site is currently very isolated from the other communities by the North Woolwich Road and the Dock water in almost every other direction. Although it is very close west Silvertown DLR station it isnt easy to get to and therefore must be improved.
By creating new paths and bridges to existing areas it will be better intergrated with the community. As the site will have services worth visting thes connections will also improve connectivity for communities nearby as well as to the rest of London.
